Ulkopolitiikka — Finnish Journal of Foreign Affairs

For more than 60 years Ulkopolitiikka – or The Finnish Journal of Foreign Affairs – has been a leading discussion forum on international relations, global politics and economics in Finland. It is the only magazine in the country focusing on these topics.

Our readers include high-level decision makers in the public and private sector, as well as parliamentarians, embassies, political correspondents and journalists, researchers, students and civil society.

Since the beginning of 2024 Ulkopolitiikka has been published online as a free and open journal accessible without subscription. Before this a print edition was released four times per year. While the magazine has undergone significant changes and many iterations throughout its history, its purpose remains the same: to promote public discussion, provide in-depth background and coverage of world politics and introduce ideas from the research community and international forums to Finnish readers.

Ulkopolitiikka has been acknowledged for its quality in Finnish trade events. The journal was shortlisted for the best magazine Edit award in 2020 by the Finnish Magazine Media Association and won the same award for best design in 2014. In 2013 and 2015, the journal was honored as the Best trade magazine of the year.
